Everest Base Camp and Island Peak Climbing

20 Days 19 Nights

Everest Base Camp and Island Peak offer an unforgettable Himalayan adventure, combining spectacular mountain scenery, rich Sherpa culture, and the thrill of climbing above 6,000 meters. This journey takes you deep into the heart of the Khumbu region, where colorful prayer flags, Buddhist monuments, ancient monasteries, and welcoming Sherpa villages stand beneath some of the world’s highest peaks.

Flight From Kathmandu To Lukla

Our adventure begins with an exhilarating flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, we trek through beautiful alpine forests and traditional Sherpa settlements toward Namche Bazaar, the vibrant trading center of the Khumbu. We spend two nights in Namche for essential acclimatization, including a rewarding detour into the less-frequented Bhote Kosi Valley to the historic village of Thame.

Trekking Through Khumbu Valley

Continuing deeper into the mountains, we follow the main Everest valley toward Gorak Shep and make an unforgettable ascent of Kala Patthar (5,600 m). From its summit, magnificent views unfold across Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding glaciers, including the dramatic southwest face of Mount Everest. We also spend a day exploring Everest Base Camp, located at the foot of the impressive Khumbu Icefall.

Our journey then continues toward Thyangboche Monastery, one of the most important Buddhist centers in the Khumbu, before returning through the mountain villages to Lukla for our flight back to Kathmandu.

Climbing Island Peak

For those seeking an additional challenge, Island Peak (6,160 m), also known as Imja Tse, provides an exciting opportunity to venture above 6,000 meters while experiencing the grandeur of the Khumbu Himalayas. From the summit, climbers enjoy spectacular panoramas of Nuptse, Lhotse, Lhotse Middle, Lhotse Shar, and the surrounding peaks. Cho Polu (6,734 m) rises above the frozen landscape of the Lhotse Shar Glacier, while, in favorable weather conditions, the mighty Mount Makalu (8,475 m) can be seen to the east.

Island Peak is an excellent introduction to high-altitude mountaineering and can be combined naturally with an Everest Base Camp trek, providing valuable acclimatization before the climb. With its breathtaking scenery, cultural experiences, high-altitude trekking, and exhilarating summit adventure, this combined Everest Base Camp and Island Peak expedition is an ideal choice for trekkers and adventure seekers looking for an unforgettable Himalayan experience.
